Evaluation Process for Best Practice

The Good Recruitment Summit is unique in that it recognises that many organisations still have a long way to go to achieve their goals in talent acquisition and it therefore brings a higher degree of insight and shared experience into a single event to help them understand how they compare and where they can improve.

Once an organisation completes its initial assessment of the categories within the Benchmark Assessment Programme, the automated assessment system identifies best practice which is then validated by a team of independent experts.

Kevin Green
Chair, The GRB Campaign

Chair of The REC’s, The Good Recruitment Campaign an initiative designed to help organisations radically improve its talent acquisition capability. Kevin holds a number of Non-Executive Director and Strategic Advisory roles. He has just stepped down after nearly 10 years as the CEO of The REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation). 

Kevin was given the Trade Association Leadership Award in 2012. Previously HR Director at Royal Mail where he led a major transformation programme and was owner/MD of a successful HR Consultancy working with a range of blue chips on their people strategies. 

He is a sought-after commentator on the UK Jobs market by the Media. 

Helen Pitcher OBE
Chairman, Advanced Board Excellence

Chair at Advanced Boardroom Excellence a board effectiveness consultancy. Helen has led some of the biggest Board Evaluations conducted in the last few years. 

She is also coach to many leading CEOs, Chairman and NED’s. Helen is Chairman at Pladis (United Biscuits, Godiva, Ülker Bisküvi), Chairman of KidsOut Charity, President of INSEAD Directors Network Board (IDN); Board member CIPD. 

She is on the Advisory Board for Leeds University Law Faculty and was Chairman of the Queens Counsel Selection Panel for 8 years. Helen was awarded an OBE for services to business in 2015.

Ken is the owner and Managing Director of TALiNT Partners, home to the largest Talent Acquisition & HR event series in the UK encompassing the industry leading event programmes Talent Leaders Connect  and Recruitment Leaders Connect.

In conjunction with the REC, they run the Good Recruitment Benchmark assessment programme whilst TALiNT Media delivers innovative digital and multi media campaigns. His early career included Board positions at Robert Walters and Korn/Ferry International as well as HR Director at Fidelity Investments. 

He was Chairman of financial recruiter, Morgan McKinley and technology platform, TheJobPost. He also serves on the Recruitment and Development Committee of Oxfam.

Jenny Roper
Editor, HR Magazine

Jenny is a journalist and Editor of HR Magazine where she has been since 2015 covering the significant issues for Talent Acquisition including flexible working, E & D, Employer Brand issues, etc.

Isabelle Hung

Director of XVconsult Isabelle has an extensive background within Talent Acquisition industry. Nominated by Recruiter.co.uk as 1 of 11 most influential in-house talent acquisition experts. 

Isabelle has globally designed and implemented innovative and successful resourcing solutions her experience being drawn from working within in-house, RPO, employer branding and consultancy companies. 

She has chaired industry awards programmes and just completed 2 years with Sage as their Director, Talent Acquisition Strategy.

Bill works with HR Tech companies on their product road map, with V.C.s over investments in the sector, with hiring companies on technology and approach. 

He is also a judge for the UK #CandE (candidate experience awards) and a prolific writer.

Becky Pritchard
People Editor, Financial News

Becky Pritchard is the people editor at Financial News, covering all things related to employment, careers, pay and diversity in financial services. 

She also dispenses weekly workplace advice as the author of The Careerologist column. Becky previously spent six years covering hedge funds, private equity and the legal profession.

She has an MA in investigative journalism.

Colin Minto
Director of Big Idea Talent & APeopleBusiness

Through Big Idea Talent Colin works with complex and global organisations to deliver end to end resourcing, and digital, recruitment and HR technology solutions. 

He is also the co-founder of APeopleBusiness which helps organisations diagnose Workforce Stress and develop Mental Health Strategies. 

Previously he was Group Head of Resourcing and HR Systems for G4S, the world’s second largest private employer recruiting in excess of 220,000 people per year. 

He has been the recipient of numerous awards from the Recruitment industry.

Steve Othen
Head of HR, Recruitment & Employment Confederation

Steve is current Head of HR & Projects at the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and has been with the organisation since 2004. 

He leads the internal HR function, manages the Good Recruitment Campaign and sits on the REC’s senior leadership team. Steve also sits on the Appoints & Remuneration Committee at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. 

Steve was awarded ‘HR Future Leader of the Year’ at the 2017 HR Excellence Awards.

Shona McKenzie
Global Head Talent Acquisition, Standard Life Aberdeen

Global Head of TA at Standard Life Aberdeen as well as running Ferguson McKenzie a specialist recruitment agency where she has built up decades of experience hiring for blue chip clients. 

Previously she was Recruitment Director for Glasgow 2014 (Commonwealth Games). She was awarded the inaugural Chairman’s Award from S1 Jobs for a Lifetime Achievement in Recruitment. 

Will Hamilton
CEO, Launchpad

CEO of LaunchPad Recruits, www.launchpadrecruits.com. Will founded this HR Tech business 7 years ago. The platform delivers an engaging candidate experience and improved hiring efficiency. 

The Lauchpad platform will be used for the judging process for our category shortlists. Will’s previous career was as a Consultant including with Goldman Sachs, IBM and Accenture.

John Wallace
Author, “Hire Power”

John’s first book – “Hire Power – Use Strategic Resourcing to Sharpen Your Competitive Edge” – was released in 2017. 

He has worked in the recruitment business for over twenty years initially in consultancy and then with HR/Talent leadership roles with RBS, Tesco and Barclays. 

Since 2016 he has consulted in the UK and internationally with businesses to develop resourcing strategies that focus on improving the quality of hiring for business performance, in the UK and internationally.  

John also owns a business in the health sector, based in Northern Ireland, and is working on his second book.

Identifying Best Practice

The deadline for completing the submissions is September 30th 2018.  The validation process will commence immediately after that date and will be done via video interviews using the LaunchPad Recruits Platform.

Full details of this process will be communicated to the relevant organisations.

This phase will be completed at the end of October. 

The findings will be announced at the Benchmark Summit on November 22nd.

Overall Best Practice Recognition

The data and expert’s evaluations for all of the categories will be reviewed to make this decision. 

It will identify the organisation that has best demonstrated outstanding Talent Acquisition capability, values and outcomes that enhance its employer brand and which deliver a great candidate experience.

Follow Up

A report presenting the key trends and insights from the benchmark assessment programme will be provided to all of the organisations who participated in the benchmarking process.
